Outstanding Engineering Organization

The Instrumentation, Control and Intelligent Systems (ICIS) Team at the Idaho National Laboratory.

“For Leadership in the Development and Advancement of Research in the New Field of Resilient, Cyber-Physical Systems.”

The ICIS team has exemplified itself as a model organization for addressing national needs in the area of electrical and electronics engineering, building community involvement, developing new generations of students, and building collaborative events in associated with IEEE. While the impact of the ICIS leadership has included many community involvement activities, such as the “Brew with the Crew” monthly topical series that has been ongoing for 5 years, the primary impact has been through the diverse activities developed in the new resilient control area. The International Symposium on Resilient Control Systems maintained a subdued INL presence in favor of broader participation. Over the last four years, the symposium is now moving to different locations in the United States to continue the development of the community. Through its broad efforts, which include educating the next generations of researchers, ICIS has taken a comprehensive approach to guiding this new research area forward.
