IEEE Region 6 Regional Student Activities Committee (RSAC)

— Coming soon: Visit our IEEE Region 6 RSAC Website —

The IEEE Region 6 Regional Student Activities Committee (RSAC) supports and enhances the experience of IEEE student members across IEEE Region 6, which encompasses the Western United States. As part of IEEE’s global student network, the R6 RSAC works to engage, connect, and empower students by fostering professional growth, technical development, and leadership opportunities.

The committee serves as a bridge between student branches, Section leadership, and IEEE at large—helping coordinate programs, training, and resources tailored to the needs of students and recent graduates. RSAC also plays a central role in organizing regional student events such as leadership trainings, technical competitions, and networking opportunities, ensuring students are well-prepared to transition into young professional and volunteer roles within IEEE.

The RSAC serves as a liaison between student members, local student branches, and the broader IEEE leadership, ensuring that students’ voices are represented in regional decision-making. It coordinates student programs, facilitates collaboration among branches, and supports initiatives such as leadership training, technical student competitions, career development workshops, and networking events.

Comprising of the Regional Student Activities Committee (RSAC) Chair, Regional Student Representative (RSR), Regional SPA-X Coordinator, ad hoc committee members of RSAC, Section SACs, Student Branch Counselors, and Student Branch Chairs, the RSAC works closely with university counselors and Section leaders to provide resources, mentorship, and strategic guidance. Its mission is to inspire innovation, foster leadership, and cultivate a vibrant student community aligned with IEEE’s overall goals.

By encouraging collaboration, innovation, and community, the IEEE Region 6 RSAC helps students expand their technical knowledge, build valuable professional networks, and discover pathways for long-term engagement in IEEE.

According to the Bylaws:

This committee shall be composed of all Student Branch Counselors, Student Branch Chairs, Section Student Activities Chairs, Area Student Activities Chairs, Region IEEE-USA SPA-X Coordinator(s), chairs of any ad hoc committee of RSAC, and any Student Activities Committee members, ex-officio non-voting, residing in the region.

The IEEE Region 6 Regional Student Activities Committee (RSAC) makes policy and procedures recommendations regarding student activities in the region and is responsible to the Region 6 Committee. The charge given to the RSAC is:

  • To encourage and oversee student activities in the region including student membership, branch operations, area meetings and regional student contests, and the student activities at any region meeting.
  • To supervise student activities and meetings when held on a Region basis.
  • To facilitate intercommunication between the student branches and IEEE MGA Staff.
  • To facilitate leadership training for Student Branch leaders and Student Activities Chairs within the region.
