Chiplet-In-Wafer Technology For The Development Of III-V RF ICs

New requirements for communication (e.g., 5G) and radar (e.g., automotive) applications at millimeter-wave frequencies have fostered the development of new packaging solutions for circuit and subsystem manufacturing. In the area of RF compound semiconductors, technologies for the co-integration of high-performance devices and silicon circuits have also emerged. HRL is developing a technology called MECAMIC (Metal Embedded Chiplet Assembly for Microwave Integrated Circuits) that uses GaN transistor chiplets integrated in the volume of passive interposer wafers. Engineering advances in chiplet manufacturing…

Subsampling PLLs for Frequency Synthesis and Phase Modulation

December 10 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am

The tutorial starts with a basic/introductive overview of modern frequency synthesis techniques, delivering basic operation theory in an intuitive fashion. A point of attention is in this context brought to recent subsampling PLL architecture. This architecture overcomes the performance boundaries typically encountered in classical implementations and is redefining today’s state-of-the state of art in frequency synthesis. We will try to explain why. The following part of the tutorial explores the subsampling loop in context of state-of-the art fractional synthesis and…

Optimal Power Management and Control of Solar Powered Electric Vehicle

December 13 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Abstract: In this project, to support the Electric Vehicle (EV) energy requirement during the running condition, a solar panel has been installed on the vehicle's roof. Here, vehicle rooftop solar panel means, the upper body of the vehicle is made of solar cells. That’s why in the daytime, vehicle during running condition or parked in open space, its solar panel continuously generates power, which supports the overall energy utilization. However, here maximum energy extraction from the panel is the biggest…
