Learn How Chips Work and Design Your Own – Workshop

In-Person Event

Interested in knowing how to go from idea to chip? In this beginning workshop, led by extraordinary leader in semiconductors, Matt Venn (TinyTapeout), learn how to design your own chip. If designing a chip seemed elusive, this is THE workshop that will show a clear path for getting it done. This is expected to be one of the largest gathering of new chip designers, so register soon!

Tiny Tapeout is a great way to teach digital design and get real chips back. Students get hands-on experience with building their own application-specific integrated circuits and taking them all the way through to production – with the goal of holding a fully-packaged and ready-to-use chip in their hand at the end of the process.

Who should attend?

  • Middle or high school students – want to know more about the field of semiconductors? This will be a great introduction.
  • Teachers – learn the steps to design and tapeout a chip to enhance your curriculum
  • Industry – want to level up and learn the steps in chip design? Join us.
  • University students – been studying engineering for awhile but never taped out a chip? Now’s your chance.

Instructor’s Bio:
Matt Venn is a science & technology communicator and electronic engineer. He has been involved with open source silicon and has helped hundreds of people learn the tools on his Zero to ASIC course, and created the Tiny Tapeout shuttle service that has manufactured designs since 2022.
