Public policies to foster innovation, advance technology leadership and benefit engineers

As a former President of IEEE USA, Tom Coughlin will enlighten us on how advocacy work can impact Public policies to benefit our country, technical communities, and the wellbeing of IEEE-Members.  Tom will illustrate IEEE-USA’s methods to develop public policies in various needed areas and how those public policies influence decision-makers in the Congress, Senate and White House as well as at the State and local government. He will also talk about the coming Congressional Visit day (CVD) on April 12th, 2021. On the State level, he will illustrate the valuable efforts he led with a group of enthusiastic IEEE Members on the California’s AB-5 bill and its profound impact on technology consultants and small businesses.
