In recent years, IEEE has placed great emphasis on Humanitarian Technology Activities, instituting the Humanitarian Ad Hoc Committee (HAHC) in 2011 (now called the Humanitarian Activities Committee). As part of a strategic effort toward member engagement, HAHC instituted a program called Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology (SIGHT).

The SIGHT Steering Committee is a Subcommittee of the IEEE Humanitarian Activities Committee which supports the Board vision of IEEE volunteers around the world carrying out and/or supporting impactful humanitarian activities at the local level. The SIGHT Steering Committee will be made up of eleven Subcommittee Chairs:

- Communications
- Marketing & Branding
- Education
- Events
- Partnerships
- Communities of Practice
- Awards & Recognition
- Volunteer Management & Engagement
- Operations

Who Can Apply?
Any IEEE member can apply to be a part of the 2016 SIGHT Steering Committee. Each position has different requirements, but generally applicants should be able to work well on a team, have experience in humanitarian activities, and be familiar with the IEEE SIGHT Program.
