Meeting of the Minds IOT Hackathon – October 20-22

The Meeting of the Minds IOT Hackathon.

Since it was first launched in 2006, Meeting of the Minds has become a premier global leadership summit on innovative solutions for smart and sustainable cities. From October 20-22, we will convene in Richmond, CA a select group of 400+ thought leaders from more than 25 countries. Each and every one of the invited leaders is working at the cutting edge of urban sustainability, seeking out breakthrough innovations, and utilizing connected technologies: http://cityminded.org/events/motm2015.

In conjunction with this year’s summit, we are hosting the Meeting of the Minds 2015 IOT Hackathon, sponsored by Qualcomm with support from Microsoft and AT&T. The first Hackathon ever organized in Richmond, the purpose is to provide real solutions that both the Mayor’s Office and citizens can use on a day-to-day basis to improve the city.

We would like to invite you to register and compete; and share this invite with others who might be interested. More information and registration: http://motmhack.eventbrite.com

This year we have two different tracks for the Hackaton: (a) a CIVIC ENGAGEMENT track targeted at ad hoc teams that will be co-located in Richmond for 1.5 days to compete for a $5K prize; and (b) an INDUSTRIAL track which consists of start-up and corporate teams developing IOT applications and use cases during the weeks leading up to the Meeting of the Minds 2015 summit. The purpose of the Hackathon is to build a solution that improves the livability, sustainability and connectedness of Richmond, CA.

The top three teams from each track will present their use case/solution in the plenary session on stage on October 21 at 9:00am in front of the entire summit and a live webcast audience of thousands of viewers (note: this is held at the Craneway Pavilion in Richmond). The winner will be announced on stage at the event. Each team will also create a short slide deck to be shown in the lobby of the summit on Microsoft laptops and tablets.

If you are interested, would like more information  – let me know.  I also encourage you to share this with civic-minded coders, and smart grid/smart city technology companies in your network.  Registration will be open for the next 2-3 weeks.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
