Mission and Plan

The Mission of the IEEE Southern California Nanotechnology Council Chapter is to enable nanotechnology engineering by building bridges among industry, academia, and government through education & networking. The chapter advocates continuing education and training for scientists and engineers in support of the nanotechnology enabled convergence of nanoelectronics, nanomaterials technology, nano-biotechnology, and information technology. It will also foster and integrate STEM into activities.

The chapter sponsors regularly scheduled educational and professional events throughout the entire Southern California region, initially in the Irvine, Fullerton, Pomona and Riverside locals. These events will provide exposure to a wide range of nanotechnology science and technology topics by established experts in the fields. College students, young professionals, working engineers and scientists as well as persons seeking to explore new career areas will be the target audience.

Presentations will span nanomaterials and nanodevices, nanophotonics and nanomedicine, nanopolymers and nanosensors along with their applications.

Speakers from Academia and Industry (both entrepreneurs and established enterprises), will review current as well as potential areas of interest in an attempt to spark a drive to get involved in enabling the promise of nanotechnology.
