Smart Buildings, Fundamentals, History, State of the Art

April 18 @ 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Please plan to attend this meeting of the Industry Applications Society. The speaker will be James P. Waltz, PE, CEM, FACFE, FCABE.

Our phones are smart, our cars are smart, our dishwashers and refrigerators, televisions and even circuit breakers are smart – but what about our buildings? This presentation explores what it means to be a “smart” building, and how technology has been and is being incorporated into the built environment. This will address which building infrastructure systems could be made “smart” and which might benefit from advanced technology, where it all started, how it has progressed over time and where it stands today.

Also, the subject of man-machine-interface will be discussed (aka, the human infrastructure), as well as a vision of what the future might hold.
