Battery Energy Storage Systems: An Industrial Perspective
October 27 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
Battery Energy Systems have recently been attracting a lot of attention as a result of significant improvements in battery technology, lower cost per KWh, and expansion of highly variable and intermittent renewable resources such as wind and solar. In addition to providing an overview of Energy Storage Technologies in general, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) will be addressed from a cell, module, string, power conversion, and grid-level point of view. Front and Behind the Meter BESS applications will be discussed with a focus on utility-scale applications. Key challenges and future opportunities for innovation in the BESS space will also be discussed. A comprehensive reference list will also be provided. Co-sponsored by: BSU Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Speaker(s): Ahmed Elasser, Agenda: 10:30 – 10:35 AM: Welcome & Introduction 10:35 – 11:25 AM: Lecture 11:25 – 11:30 PM: Q&A Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/283835
