SusTech 2018 Student Poster Contest Announcement

Submission deadline extended to September 30.

SusTech 2018 invites undergraduate and graduate students to submit abstracts for the Student Poster Contest. Students are invited to send in ideas or designs for developing projects/products supporting the sustainability topics areas of the Conference. The selected posters will be displayed during the SusTech 2018 Student Poster Session, on Sunday November 11, being held in Long Beach, Californium, USA.

The deadline to submit poster abstracts is midnight US Pacific Time, September 15, 2018 September 30, 2018.

Accepted posters must register for the contest and pay a $50 submission fee. At least one student author must be an IEEE student member at the time of the submission of the poster to the Contest.

Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places as determined by the judges. First place $750; second $500; third $250. Information on the winners will be posted on the SusTech and IEEE Region 6 websites.

Empower Female Entrepreneurs at the 2018 WIE ILC Startup Pitch Competition

Startup Pitch Competition at WIE ILC
Women-in-Engineering International Leadership Conference (WIE ILC) is IEEE’s premier conference dedicated to help female professionals to succeed in STEM. It caters to a broad audience of professionals in academia, industry, and government. One of the highlight’s of this year’s Conference is the WIE ILC Startup Pitch Competition, with the goal to inspire, assist and engage female entrepreneurs and help them succeed in the startup environment.

The 2018 WIE ILC Startup Pitch Competition attracted 12 startups by female entrepreneurs. Prior to the event, the entrepreneurs had the opportunity to polish their pitch decks assisted by a group of VCs, corporate executives and startup coaches. During the Pitch Competition, the entrepreneurs presented to a panel of 8 VCs and executives. The event attracted more than 100 attendees and was very well received.

The IEEE GHTC is an international flagship conference on the application of technology to meet the needs of underserved populations around the world and in support of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG). GHTC 2018 will be held Oct. 18-21 in San Jose, CA.

GHTC strongly encourages submissions that utilize both applications of current technologies used in new ways and innovative technologies that address its goals. These submissions can include presentations, posters, workshops, panel discussions, and other formats which address the socio-cultural and socio-economical needs of vulnerable end user communities in both developed and developing countries. Submissions by public, private and end-user community representatives are very welcome.

*New for 2018* – GHTC has now added Social Science & Entrepreneurship as new topics for papers, panels, and workshops, in the context of technology design, adoption, and dissemination.

SusTech 2018 will be held in Long Beach, CA. on November 11-13, 2018.

SusTech is designed to explore the development and application of science, engineering and technology in achieving a sustainable lifestyle for humanity. It brings together scientists, engineers, technologists and scholars from multiple disciplines to hold a dialogue on environmental issues and collaborate on ideas to develop and utilize innovative tools and intelligent systems to address them. Attendees will learn about the tools, connections and proactive solutions to take their sustainability programs to the next level.

SusTech 2018 will feature technical papers, posters and workshops. A number of prominent experts will be giving keynote addresses, plenary presentations and invited talks. Best Posters and Papers in the conference will be eligible for an award. Full papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings.
